Saza Azrain Shah Mohmad Shani, MIPR, APR

Deputy Director of Membership

Saza Azrain Shah is a distinguished brand strategist and corporate transformation leader with over two decades of high-caliber experience driving strategic communications, stakeholder relations, and systemic change across Malaysia’s premier institutional and corporate landscapes.

Market Disruption & Halal Pioneering

A pioneer in market-defining public relations, Saza engineered the landmark 2005 Ubat Gigi Mu’min campaign—a masterclass in strategic brand positioning that elevated the necessity of certified Halal personal care across the Muslim world. The campaign’s profound market disruption fundamentally shifted national consumer behavior, compelling global FMCG conglomerates to recalibrate their strategies and launch competitive Halal initiatives in Malaysia.

Transformational Impact at PETRONAS

Saza’s professional trajectory is anchored by a distinguished 17-year tenure at PETRONAS, where he served as a key architect of both organizational culture and national-level energy frameworks.

●      Culture & Sustainability Leadership: Within the Downstream Business, he spearheaded comprehensive organizational culture change initiatives to align workforce mindsets with shifting corporate objectives. A champion of sustainability, he conceptualized and drove the nationwide retail awareness campaign for collecting Used Cooking Oil via PETRONAS stations—a signature initiative that successfully institutionalized community-level recycling habits.

●      National Energy Advocacy: Acted as a premier strategic advocate for the nation’s energy transition, he successfully brokered high-stakes collaborations with the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Plantation and Commodities, the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB), and key industry players to advance the biofuels sector. Through these powerful alliances, he played an instrumental role in shaping the definitive pathway and roadmap for Malaysia’s National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR).

Current Senior Leadership & Credentials

Currently, Saza serves as the Special Officer at Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Berhad (PUNB), where he seamlessly bridges strategic communications and corporate transformation to drive operational excellence.

As an Accredited PR Practitioner, Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, and PROSCI Change Management practitioner, Saza stands at the vanguard of the industry, delivering data-driven, culturally resonant communication strategies that future-proof complex organizations.
